The Delectable
Mountains Quilt Guild is
a group
of some
70 women
who share
a love
of quilting.
Their goals
are to
further
their expertise
in the
quilting
arts through
practical
use and
to educate
the community
in which
they live
by sharing
and teaching
their knowledge.
In addition
to individual
activities, Guild members
work together
to create
quilts
that are
donated
to local
charities
and individuals
in need. The Guild offers members many projects and classes throughout the year which promote ideas for other Guild and personal projects, classes, events, etc. The Delectable Mountains Quilters have stitched love quilts, mystery quilts, quilts for charity donation and fund raising, and even their signature quilt wall hanging seen above (click on the image to see a larger rendering). The Guild offers quilting lessons, the joy of gathering together to stitch, and the creative power of the many! The membership enjoys quilters of all levels who teach, learn, and share skills and ideas amongst themselves and the community. What more could a budding or master quilter ask for! Join us some time at our meeting place, we would welcome you as a guest or a member. Each year the Guild holds a quilt show and sale at the Morgan Arts Council Ice House. Members hang quilts in this non-juried show, and many quilts are offered for sale. Other quilted items are also on sale at this major fund raising event. Guild members are on hand to answer questions about quilting, the quilts, and the Guild. The 2008 Delectable Mountains Quilt Show and Sale opens May 2nd and runs through June 1st. The Delectable Mountains Quilters meet the first and third Wednesdays, September through June, from 10:00 am to approximately 2:00 pm at the Seventh Day Adventist Church which is located on Rt. 522 South (3606 Valley Road) in Berkeley Springs. Each year during the summer break, a Challenge is offered to keep Guild members engaged. Some of the most creative and unusual quilting items result from these challenges. Visit the Summer Challenge page for the instructions for this year's challenge. Evening Guild accomodates those members who are unable to attend daytime meetings. The evening Guild meets once a month, year round, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Meetings usually take place on the first Monday evening of the month, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. All DMQ members and prospective members are invited to attend. |
