Thank you for visiting our Web site!

Welcome to Morgan County, nestled in the Appalachian Mountains, approximately 90 miles west of the Baltimore/Washington, DC metropolitan area. The town of Bath, also known as Berkeley Springs, is the county seat and where the organizations showcased here are located. Famous for being the first "spa" in the country, Bath is where George Washington and many of his contemporaries, cronies, and family came to bathe in the restorative mineral springs.

Morgan County is fortunate to have an extremely active community. Small town that we are, we are not at a loss for things to do. Considering the county's diversity, born and raised or "city transplants,", there are a myriad of non-profit organizations actively engaging and promoting literacy to helping the environment. For more information,  visit www.berkeleysprings.com.

Associated with each organization page is an events calendar, photo albums of previous events, and application forms. We will continue to update our site with additional information and organizations, so be sure to check in every now and then.

The Morgan Community Concert Band was founded in 2001. Composed of amateur musicians from Berkeley Springs, WV and the surrounding areas, these musicians are dedicated to bringing cultural enrichment to the community by offering a local venue where muscians can continue to hone and practice their skills as well as perform. Performances within the local community are scheduled throughout the year. Please visit the Morgan Community Concert Band pages to learn how to join, make donations, and the current performance schedule.

The recently revived Morgan County Fair spans two days of great fun. This free event is chock full of exhibits, workshops, music, animals, contests, games, and FUN, FUN, FUN! Visit the Morgan County Fair page to find out more.

The Delectable Mountains Quilt Guild is a group of some 70 women who share a love of quilting. Their goals are to further their expertise in the quilting arts through practical use and to educate the community in which they live by sharing and teaching their knowledge. In addition to individual activities, Guild members work together to create quilts that are donated to local charities and individuals in need. Each year the Guild holds a show at the local art gallery and a yard square quilt auction to raise money for a local non-profit entity such as the local library. The Guild also conducts a quilt raffle during the County Fair. Proceeds from the raffle are also donated to charity. Please don't miss the Delectable Mountains Quilt Guild pages to see how to join the Guild and learn more about all the fun they have and the wonderful things they do for their community.

The Morgan County arm of the West Virginia University Extension Service provides Morgan County with a County Agent, among many other things. In fact, the Extension Service is the primary motivating force for some of the organizations profiled on this Web site. The County Agent and staff provide an extremely important source of support and impetus to many of our community programs. Morgan County is fortunate to have an active and committed Extension Service. Please visit the Extension Service page to learn more about their mission and the invaluable contributions it makes to our community.

The Berkeley Springs Farmers Market features fresh produce from local farmers. The market provides local growers and vendors a venue to sell their produce and handmade items directly to the customer. The Market started with just three vendors in July 2002 and has grown to over 14 vendors this season. The Farmers Market also offers a number of special events to make the market fun for everyone. Collaborating with the Farmers Market, the Morgan County Master Gardeners provide educational programs throughout the market season. Be sure to visit the Berkeley Springs Farmers Market site to see all the marvelous products and events it has to offer and learn about participating producers.

The Morgan County Master Gardeners is a program designed to use the services of trained volunteers from within the local community who have horticultural knowledge and a willingness to share their expertise with other county residents through the Co-operative Extension Service. Don't miss the Master Gardeners page, they have some interesting, fun events that you won't want to miss!

We hope to see you at an event or two, or perhaps even more, very soon. Be sure to visit Morgan County, WV, An Involved Community!
